enthusiasm= a strong feeling of excitement; interest in something; a desire to become involved in it 热情;热心
employ=to give somebody a job to do for payment v.雇佣
e.g. For the past three years he has been employed as a firefighter.
=to use something such as a kill, method, etc. for a particular purpose v.应用;运用;使用
e.g. The police employed force to open the door and caught the criminal.

conservation= the protection of the natural environment n.(对自然环境的)保护

escape= to get away from an unpleasant or dangerous situation v. 逃脱;摆脱
e.g. I am always wondering: can people escape the force of gravity?

concept= an idea or a principle that is connected with something abstract n. n. 概念;观念

declare= v. to say something officially or publicly v. 宣告;宣布

tough = having or causing problems or difficulties adj.艰难的;棘手的
e.g. It was a tough decision to make.
e.g. Employing creative staff is a necessity for all businesses, especially in tough times.
adj.严厉的;强硬的 be tough on/with sb./sth.对…严厉的,强硬的
adj.强壮的;吃苦耐劳的;坚韧不拔的
e.g. He will have competition with a tough competitor who is knowledgeable and well-financed.

seek (sought, sought)= to look for something/ somebody v.寻找 v.寻求;谋求;探索
e.g. We should seek common ground and reserve differences on this issue.
e.g. Consequently, if they genuinely seek peace, they will not be opposed to the country having secure borders.
seek advice/help from sb.
anxious= feeling worried or nervous adj. 焦虑;忧虑;担心
be ~ for 急切盼望;渴望;不放心 be ~ about 忧虑;牵挂
scared= frightened of something or afraid that something bad might happen adj. 害怕;恐惧;担心
revise=to change something, in order to correct or improve it v.修改
e.g. The international community must fundamentally revise its strategy.
v.复习 e.g. I spent the whole weekend revising for my exam.
extra= more than is usual, expected, or than exists already adj. 额外的;外加的 be ~ of
engage= to become involved with and try to understand something/ somebody v.与…建立密切关系;尽力理解 engage with sb./sth.
e.g. During the planning stages, communities were encouraged to set up representative groups to engage with government design teams.
e.g. They do research before they arrive and engage with the local culture.
= to take part v.从事,参与 engage in/be engaged in 参加,从事
e.g. He has engaged in some political activities, but this may not be his primary role.
persuade = to make somebody do something by giving them good reasons for doing it v.劝说;说服
persuade sb. to do/into doing 劝说/说服某人做某事
e.g. She is often persuaded into buying something that is not really needed.
postpone= to arrange for an event, etc. To take place at a later time or date v.延迟;延期
e.g. It was an unwise decision to postpone building the new hospital.
delay/put off
sufficient= enough for a particular purpose adj. 足够的;充足的
agricultural= about agriculture adj. 农业的 ~ product 农产品

e.g. The river winds its way through the valley.
