Analysis of the teaching materials
The teaching materials are designed to be related with the topic of the unit—a taste of English humor. The humorous examples may arouse students’ interest. Besides, the words, expressions and sentences learnt in this unit can be reviewed.
Analysis of the students
The students, of intermediate English competence, are from Class 17, Grade One. Since they have the grammar of V-ing as object and subject in the previous unit, it can be assumed that they know some basic rules of v-ing. Therefore, this lesson will focus on learning V-ing as attribute, predicative and object complement. This will be practiced in multiple choice exercise, error correcting exercise and a basic writing task.
