For those looking forward to exploring natural wonders, we will present four natural wonders in the US that we believe are worth visiting.

Death Valley National Park

It is the lowest, hottest, and driest part of North America. The hottest summer on record in the valley saw temperatures top 120.F on 40 days. Ground temperatures as high as 201.F have been reported. Still, Death Valley is called with the wrong words. There are areas that are friendly to plants and animals. Death Valleys “walking” rocks move on their own as a result of freezing and thawing (融化).

Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone's Old Faithful Geyser is powered by an underground super volcano. In 1872 Yellowstone became the world's first national park. The park's wildlife includes bison, bears, and hundreds of other animals.

Crater(坑) of Diamonds (钻石) State Park

Discovered in Crater of Diamonds State Park, the 40-carat is the largest diamond ever found in the US. The diamonds and the crater are by-products of a volcanic eruption. Visitors can search the 37- acre site for diamonds and if you find it you keep it.

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

Located on the big island -of Hawaii, the Kilauea and Mauna Loa volcanoes are the centerpieces of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. You can see how the Hawaiian Islands were born and watch the big island get bigger. Kilauea has been erupting since 1983

31.Why does the author think Death Valley is called wrong?

A.There are plants and animals in Death Valley

32.What can visitors do in Crater of Diamonds State Park?

If someone were to ask me what it is like to be a student in today’s society, I would probably answer them something like this: Being a student in today’s society is not always easy.

Adults often tell us that we don’t know what stress (压力) is. But we as teenage students have our own levels of stress. For example, all school activities require you to uphold your grade point to high standards.

Then, getting your homework turned in on time seems simple, but you still hope to have a life outside of school as well. Many students in their high school years start their first job, so now you have school in the mornings and then you’re off to part-time work. By the time you are done there, you are too tired to finish your school work, but you stay up late to try and return to school feeling sleepy the next day. What good is that?

Let’s not forget about peer (同龄人) pressure. All high school students meet with it at some point in their lives. High school can be a place where students are made fun of and pointed at.

My point is, it is more stressful to be a student in high school than adults believe. Our “stress” may not include paying bills or taking care of a family, but I’m sure if the adults in our lives could go back to school today, they would be surprised at how much it has changed.

I know that the world outside of school is often hard and that the responsibilities are serious. That’s exactly why I know that the focus I give to my future is important in leading me to a career (事业) that will allow me to contribute (贡献) to society.

34.What is the author’s attitude towards students’ doing a job after school?

A. He is against it. B. He feels disappointed at it.

C. He thinks it is worth a try. D. He shows great interest in it.

35.Which of the following is the author’s opinion?

A.Adults are more stressful than students.

B.Adults should help students to deal with stress.

C.Adults have undervalued students’ stress.

D.Adults should go back to school to experience students’ life.

36.What does the underlined word “it” in the fifth paragraph refer to?

A. Society. B. Study. C. School. D. Stress.

C

Having a smart phone may not be as smart as you think. They may let you surf the Internet, listen to music and take photos wherever you are…but they also turn you into a workaholic(工作狂),it seems.

A study suggests that,by giving you access to emails at all times, the smart phone adds as much as two hours to your working day. Experts found that British people work an additional 460 hours a year on average as they are able to respond to emails on their mobiles. The study shows the average UK working day is between 9 and 10 hours, but 2 more hours is spent responding to or sending work emails,or making work calls.

Almost one in ten admits spending up to three hours outside their normal working day checking work emails. Some workers say they are on call almost 24 hours a day. Nearly two-thirds say they often check work emails just before they go to bed and as soon as they wake up, while over a third have replied to one in the middle of the night. The average time for first checking emails is between 6 a.m and 7 a.m, with more than a third checking their first email in the period, and a quarter checking them between 11p.m.and midnight.
