Overall Design and Guiding Principles
This is a speaking lesson in which I mainly employ USE teaching model so as to motivate students to speak after gaining a deep understanding of the required topic and sufficient input related to it. The teaching process is as follow: Warm-up→Understanding→Sharing→Expressing→Summary and homework.
Teaching Context
Analysis of teaching material:
In terms of content, this unit focuses on the topic of birthday parties by introducing different activities with adverbs of frequency.
[What]
The listening material is about how to describe the activities in birthday parties with adverbs of frequency, which is related to human being and human being. Daming, the birthday boy, introduces what he usually does at her birthday party to his foreign friends Betty and Tony. Also, Lingling tells them more about their activities on birthdays in China.
[Why]
The topic of this text not only is closely related to students’ real life but also have a profound educational benefit, aiming to let students know more about activities in Chinese birthday and foreign birthday, and describe their activities with the vocabularies and sentence patterns they have learned.
