She joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in 1930 and served as Minister of Women in the Xingguo County Committee, Minister of Organisation in the Jiangxi Provincial Committee and Minister of Women in the Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the CPC.

On 15 January 1934, Li Meiqun gave birth to a girl, named Zhong Quanli, in the village of Banan, Xingguo County. On the third day after giving birth to her daughter, Li Meiqun rushed to Shazhouba in Ruijin to attend the "Second Soviet Congress". After the meeting, Li Meiqun back to Ningdu, into the intense anti-"siege" war, in mid-October 1934, the Nationalist army attacked Xingguo County, she used to support the war, just returned home to visit the child, namely, received the Shao Communist Party Provincial Committee orders, to return immediately to the provincial party committee station Ningdu, to accept new combat tasks.

Li Meiqun knows that the war ahead is critical, even if personal difficulties, but also can not affect the party organization to their own tasks. But if she left, who would she entrust her young daughter to? The war years did not allow Li Meiqun to think too much, so she knelt down in front of her mother-in-law with a thud: "Mom, Meiqun is unfilial, I'll leave the child to you!"
