Words and Expressions

Gosh: an expression uttered by people to show surprise or shock 天哪!

nonsense: comments or ideas that you think are stupid or wrong瞎说!

What do you do: What do you do for a living? / What is your job? / What business are you in? 你是做什么工作的呢?

It’s a living: It pays the bills. / It puts food on the table. / It’s a job. 只是图个温饱而已。

What are your children doing: What kind of work do your children do? / What are your kids up to these days? 你家孩子是做什么工作的呢?

Oprah: Here it refers to Oprah Winfrey (1954— ), a very famous TV host for the talk show named The Oprah Winfrey Show 奥普拉·温某某

I wish she were as popular: If only she were so popular! / She’s hardly as popular! / She is not nearly so famous! 我倒是希望她有那么受欢迎!

’Cuz: a short form for “because” in spoken English. 因为

I better go: I (had) better…How (are) you doing! Where (are) you going? And (It) sounds good are some examples of informal speech in which words are dropped. (我)得走了

coronation: A coronation is the ceremony at which a king or queen is crowned. 加冕仪式
