Teaching Procedures

Step 1. Preparation

Do a small exercise to review the passage about resolutions.

Enjoy a video about New Year’s Resolutions to raise up students’ interest.

Have students talk about their New Year’s resolutions.

Step 2. Presentation :3a

·Ask students to finish the first two paragraphs about resolutions with the

given words in the box. (page47-3a on the textbook)

· Check the answers together.

Analyze the paragraph structure of paragraph 2, and help students find how to write about a resolution.

Step 2. Practice : 3b

Show the other three resolutions for students.

Prepare 3 topics (improve physical health, improve relationships with family and friends, do better at school) for each group to choose. Have students work in groups to add the details for their topics. (from” what” “how” “why” and “opinions”)

Leave each group 8 minutes to write one part with the topic they have.

Step 3. Production :3c

Collect all the topics to show and correct together.

Point out the key points they have to pay attention to.
