A special birthday

It’s Sunday. It’s Mum’s birthday. Lily gets up early. She wants to make a birthday cake.

Lily goes to Jack’s bedroom. Lily says:“Jack, get up now. Let’s make a cake for mum”.

Jack says:“Good idea”. They go to the kitchen silently.

Lily says:“We need milk, eggs, strawberries and cream. Where are they?”

Jack answers:“They are in the fridge.”

Lily says:“We need sugar and flour. Where are they?”

Jack answers:“They are in the cupboard.”

Lily says:“ Cake is ready.”

Jack says:“ It looks yummy.”

Lily says:“ Go and find Mum.”

Jack says:“ OK.”

Lily says:“Is mum in the bedroom?”

Jack says:“ No, she isn’t.”

Lily says:“ Is mum in the study?”

Jack says:“ No, she isn’t.”

Lily says:“ Is mum in the bathroom?”

Jack says:“ No, she isn’t.”

Jack says “Mum and Dad aren’t at home.”

Lily says: “Where are they? ”

The phone rings.

Mum says“sorry, Lily and Jack. Your dad and me, are in the hospital now. We can’t go home now. ”

Lily and Jack says:“ It doesn’t matter. Happy birthday, mum. I love you and Dad” They sing the birthday song for mum.

Today is mum’s birthday. Lily and Jack eat the birthday cake without mum. It’s a special birthday.

Lily和Jack围坐在蛋糕旁，餐桌上有四个盘子都装了蛋糕，一块是给妈妈，一块是给爸爸，虽然今天是妈妈的生日，但爸爸妈妈都不在家，Lily和Jack只能两个人吃蛋糕了。这真是一个特别的生日。
