An Accidental Invention-Tea

Teaching aims(教学目标)

一、熟练掌握以下词汇:nearly, boil, smell, doubt

了解下列词汇:saint, take place, by accident

二、通过学习,掌握以下句型:

1. Did you know that tea, the most popular drink in the world (after water), was invented by accident?

2. It is believed that tea was brought to Korea and Japan during the 6th and 7th centuries.

3. In England, tea didn’t appear until around 1660, but in less than 100 years.

三、能读懂谈论有关茶的发明的文章。

四、

1.通过对被动语态表达的发明和创造的事物来认识人类的科技进步和培养学生的创新能力来达到情感,态度,价值观的课堂体现。

2.通过文章最后一段的集中阅读,升华学生的爱国热情,达到情感教育。

(本节课的生词较少,而且单词的拼写比较简单,所以学生学起来不会感到困难。)

二:通过skimming and scanning两个阅读技巧的应用完成相应的阅读训练。

Students’ conditions: Ss are familiar with the passive voice and tea culture. Besides , words in this lesson are not so difficult, so it’s easier for them to learn.

Teaching steps:

Lead in :

Show the title of the passage on the screen, and lead them read for twice. Ss answer the questions:

What does the title mean?

Can you think of an invention that was invented by accident?

Watch the video, and answer the questions:

T:What was the video mainly talking about?

Ss:Tea.

T:The Chinese people like drinking tea. Today we’re going to learn An Accidental Invention-Tea.

(1).Ss listen to the tape and use Task 1,2,3 of Scanning to try to retell the passage.

(2).Ss underline all the key phrases and structures.
